Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• GRP Massey has opened a £1 million, 3,700m2(40,000ft2) extension to its Market Weighton production plant.

Additional space will allow the company to double production capacity to around 1,200 units a year and consolidate its HGV body design and production on one site. Trailer chassis manufacture will continue at a separate site close to the main plant while van bodybuilding will remain at Leeds.

Adjoining the old building, now used solely for GRPinsulated panel production, the new plant houses a large stores and chassis preparation facility along with four production lines.

These lines are dedicated to 7.5and 17-tonne rigid bodies, semis (usually refrigerated) and specials. One example in build during the opening was a i1/2 million semi-trailer containing computer equipment for a company called Systems on Site (SOS).

The trailer is parked alongside a company whose computer has failed and takes

over the functions of the failed system until a repair has been made. It is a self-contained unit with climatic control and a generator to power the onboard computers, and is the second such unit that GRP Massey has built for SOS.

And in a departure from its well known range, GRP Massey has launched a 38tonne aluminium-skinned, refrigerated, semi-trailer using 'Ferroplast' side panels.

The German one-piece panels are slightly thinner than their GRP Massey-built equivalent. This allows a minimum internal width of 2.45 metres and enables 24 Euro pallets to be carried. A narrow (80mm) neck on its own chassis allows an internal height of 2.23 metres.

Running gear is airsuspended BPW axles — either trior tandem-axled configurations are available. A Carrier refrigeration unit is fitted to the tri-axle demonstrator along with an underslung 24-pallet carrier for the empties. In this configuration the new trailer weighs 9,350kg and costs around £34,000 depending on specification. The new trailer will be offered as an addition to the present range rather than a replacement.
