VOLVO F10-derived eightwheelers supplied by Dutch specialist builder Terberg are now marketed in Denmark where this configuration is proving attractive for certain applications. The Terberg programme for Denmark includes F1850 8x Band 8 x 4 chassis.

Scania-based eight-wheelers are also at work in this country while locally built 8 x 4 conversions on Mercedes-Benz chassis have recently gone into service ie, as truck mixers for a gvw of 31 tonnes. The Mercedes-Benz four-axle vehicles have Britishsupplied second steering axles and, complete with drum mixer and ancillary equipment, have an unladen weight of 13.6 tonnes.

Last year Mercedes-Benz maintained its position as leading supplier of commercial vehicles to Danish users. Of the total of just under 9500 vehicles put into service in 1978 Mercedes-Benz accounted for 2800 units although most of these were in the 3 to 7 tonnes class.

Swedish suppliers took the number one position at the heavy end of the scale (13 tonnes plus) with 26, 2 per cent of the Danish market. this was divided between Scania with 1347 vehicles sold and Volvo with 1207 units. MercedesBenz was in third place with 462 vehicles. The UK contribution, mainly from Bedford and Ford, obtained a market share of 16.2 per cent in 1978.
