Masochists among transport operators who spend their holidays in tents or caravans may have a use for a solarpowered water heater invented by Ian Wicks, a Ford product engineering designer. The Institute of Fuel is stated to have tested it and found that it can heat water to at least 78°F.
The heater consists of a twin-compartment plastic bag, one for water and the other for air, which when not in use folds up to the size of a large envelope. It is selfinflating, too. What it really needs, however, is a sundivining attachment.
