PLANS are under way to boost public transport in Lanark District and to improve services to outlying areas. Strathclyde Region's highways and transport committee has agreed to accept a report from Greater Glasgow Passenger Transport Executive outlining the proposed reorganisation.
The scheme will mean the provision of bus services in rural areas like Pettinain, Lamington, Robertson, Wiston, Abington, Crawford, Elvanfoot and Leadhills. Also covered by the scheme will be the rural area between Lesmahagow and Lanark and the areas around Braehead, Carnwath and Biggar.
