Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ALL RURAL bus services operating from Seagate depot, Dundee, were cancelled at the weekend because of a dispute between W. Alexander & Sons (Northern) Ltd and its Dundee drivers and conductresses.

About 70 drivers and conductresses are involved in the dispute, which is over the introduction of an extended o-m-o bus scheme.

The scheme took effect from the beginning of the year, but is only now being put into operation by the company. As part of their protest, the crews have been banning overtime in recent weeks.

A spokesman for Alexander said that the scheme would not involve any redundancies as natural wastage — such as retirements — would reduce the number of staff to the required level.

Most of the areas served from Dundee were covered by services from other depots but the spokesman asked that people make only essential journeys. Only the Seagate depot was involved in the strike. Services were being resumed on Monday but the overtime ban remained.
