Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

WHITE-LL.v.E and other marking, W since the beginning of the blackout, has .become a matter of great importance, so that councils responsible are faced with the need for devoting more time and labour to such work whilst having to cut down expenditure at the same time. A solution to their problems is to be found in the Rytecraft Safeti-Line road marker, a product of the B.M.B. Engineering Co., Ampton Street, London, W.C.1.

This device is a hand-propelled, three-wheeled machine incorporating a petrol-engined pumping plant, sprayer and paint tank. It can mark clean-cut continuous or interrupted lines on the road surface or on kerbs and white bands on trees, lamp-posts, bollards, etc., with great facility. Operation is by only one man.

The power unit is a four-stroke aircooled motor which drives by belt a gear pump. Exhaust gases are discharged on to the road just in front of the sprayer so that all dust is blown away; they also have a drying effect. The sprayer is of patented design with centrifugal jet and the latter is housed in a shield which ensures sharp definition. An adjustment is provided giving a width variation between 3 ins. and 9 ins. Control of the paint discharge is from the handle bar.

It takes only a few moments to detach the spray from its normal position so that it can be used for painting objects such as those instanced above.

The price of the outfit is £49.

A noteworthy point is that the paint in the 7-gallon container is being continuously circulated.
