GLASGOW, BELFAST, L01`11D, ON AND PARIS CONNECTIONS.

The timetables for the 4ervices which Midland and Scottish Air terries, Ltd., is operating from April 9, between Glasgow, Belfast and Romford (there connecting with the service of Hillman's Airways, Ltd., to Paris) are as follow : Calls are also made at Hooton Airport. From April 9 to 13 24 through passengers were carried.

As previously announced, the London-Belfast fare is £6 single, £10 return. The London-Glasgow fare is 46 10s. single and £10 10s. returi. The London-Paris fare by Hillman s Airways, Ltd., is £3 10s. sing e and £5 10s. return, with a week-end ticket (Friday to Tuesday) at £4 15s.

S.M.T. Private-charter Rates.

The Scottish Motor Traction Co., Ltd., East Fountainbridge, Edinburgh 3, has issued a list of private-lcharter rates operating from April 1 to October 1, These rates cover the carriage of three passengers in a Fox Moth, and the list comprises 15 destinations in Scotland, and 34 in England, also Belfast, Dublin and the Isle of Man (Castletown). To quote examples, thel return fare for three persons from Ediiaburgh to Aberdeen-is £10, Belfast £15, ,Dublin £23, and London (Heston) £34.

Brian Lewis Branch at Renfrew.

Brian Lewis and Co., Ltd., managing distributor for the de Havilland Aircraft Co., Ltd., throughout the British Isles, has, owing to the increase in its business, found it necessary to provide premises at Renfrew aerodrome, Glasgow, in addition to its existing head office in London and showrooms at Heston and Hooton. The Renfrew branch will be controlled by Mr. F. A. MacNeill, and Mr. Gairdner, Hooton manager, Will have less work. Northern Ireland will be covered more efficiently from Renfrew than has been possible n34 . hitherto. The organization of Brian Lewis and Co., Ltd., has been built up solely on sales of aircraft.

Isle of Man Timetable Arrangements.

In connection with the Rotary conference, to be held in the Isle of Man in the first week in May, Blackpool and West Coast Air Services, Ltd., is operating two services daily to and from Liverpool and the Isle of Man, via Blackpool. If traffic warrants, two daily services will be continued thereafter; it may, however, be necessary to run only one service daily until the end of June, except during the period of the Tourist Trophy motorcycle races, Railways Order Fast Machines for Plymouth-Liverpool Line.

Railway Air Services, Ltd., has ordered a number of the new-type de Havilland Dragons (with two Gipsy Six 200 b.h.p. engines) for use on the daily Plymouth Bristol Cardiff Birmingham-Liverpool air _ service which, as we announced on April 6, is to be started. This modification of the Dragon will carry eight passengers and will cruise at 145 m.p.h. A NEW AND INDEPENDENT LONDON-SHANKLIN SERVICE.

From May 1, Portsmouth, Southsea and Isle of Wight Aviation, Ltd., will run an air service between Heston, Hyde and Shanklin. The company's Hyde aerodrome serves Hyde, Shanklin and Bembridge, whilst the company's Shanklin aerodrome is convenient for Shanklin, 5andown and Ventnor. The new service should not, in any way, be confused with the service wtich Spartan Air Lines, Ltd., ran last year, and will probably operate this year between Croydon and Cowes.

The fares between central London and Hyde or Sha.nklin. are 19s. 6d. single, and 385. 6d. return. From May 1 to May 15 two services daily will be run, from May 16 to July 12 three services, and July 13 to September 30 four services daily. Augmented services will be run at the Whitsun and August holidays. De Havilland Dragon aeroplanes will be used, and the scheduled time between Hyde and Heston will be 40 minutes (90 minutes between Hyde and Central London).

Aerodrome Problems of the Hebrides.

It is understood that Midland and Scottish Air Ferries, Ltd., will not be able to extend its Glasgow-Islay air service to Stornoway for some time yet, owing to the ,difficultv of obtaining landing grounds in one or two of the Hebridean islands.

Ayr Foreshore Ban Ayr Town Council has refused an • application by the Scottish Motor Traction Co., Ltd., to use pait of the foreshore for pleasure flights, from April 15 to October 15.

Romford-Paris Traffic.

In the week to April ,13 Hillman's Airways, Ltd., carried 111 singlejourney passengers on the RomfordParis air line. There were also three• special charters, one to Paris with two passengers, one to Berck, and one for photography over Welwyn.

Rumours of a Lundy Island Service.

Reports come to hand that a proposition is under consideration for the running of a pleasure air service, between a north Devon centre and Lundy Island, Singapore-Darwin Tender Recommendation.

A statement is likely to be issued that the Federal Council sitting in Australia has accepted the tender of Quantas Empire Airways, Ltd. (in which Imperial Airways, Ltd., and Queensland and Northern Territories Aerial Services, Ltd., are interested), for operation of the Singapore-Darwin section of the air-mail line.
