Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Rod Harlow, head of Driver CPC for Driver Hire, says: “Our most valuable commodity is our drivers. We invest heavily in vocational driver training – and that goes back to way before the periodic training requirement.” Each of the firm’s 96 locations is an accredited training centre for the Driver CPC. “We have more than 120 trainers, and we are the preferred trainers for a lot of our customers. We’ve trained more than 10,000 drivers since January 2010.” About 3,500-4,000 drivers work for Driver Hire regularly, and Harlow says they are all on track to obtain their DQCs in time. But he says: “More needs to be done as an industry. Other agencies are making enquiries with us to provide training for their drivers.” The firm is offering four new modules: dealing with on-road occurrences; driving commercially in the UK; customer service in the transport industry; and road traffic laws. Harlow says: “Drivers have a little bit of negativity at first, but they come out saying ‘I’ve learned something’.

“We have already got in excess of our 35 hours’ content,” Harlow adds. “You don’t want to train your drivers in the same thing every year – it’s about upskilling them periodically.”
