A LEICESTERSHIRE OPERATOR has vowed that he will not be defeated by arsonists, who torched his fleet causing more than £15,000-worth of damage.

Three Iveco trucks parked at CP Scaffolding's yard on the Faircharm Trading Estate were destroyed in the blaze at around 9.30pm on 23 August. But Craig Parkinson says his seven-strong team will keep their jobs and business will continue. He hopes his insurance will cover the cost of two new replacement trucks and says his local dealership has offered him replacement vehicles until his new ones are available.

It is the second time the firm has been hit by arsonists in the past 18 months. "I've had to turn down around fl 0,000-worth of business over the past few days. I'm not going to let whoever committed this crime put me out of business. We recovered last time this happened at our old premises and we will recover again this time," says Parkinson. A spokeswoman for Leicestershire police says it is keeping an open mind to the circumstances surrounding the incident, but anyone with information should contact them immediately.
