THE AGGREGATES industry has received a much-needed boost with a programme to provide driver training in safety and fuelefficiency until March 2007.

The Department for Transport has awarded Simon Management a contract to provide training for 5,000 experienced drivers, 500 new drivers and 200 specialist safe and fuel efficient (SAFED) driving instructors (DTIs).
