jobs have been warned by trade union leaders that they risk cramped living conditions as well as many weeks' separation from their families.
Eleven drivers from Darlington's United Automobile Services are to take driving jobs in Brighton in the hope of earning over £360 for a seven-day-week.
Union officials are urging caution, however: "Men should check the facts before they go and make sure everything is in writing," says Stella Gray of the TGWU.
Peter Selvey, chief executive of Brighton Borough Transport, disagrees: "People have approached me because there are better conditons and wages down here. The word has spread," he says.
