Rootes, which absorbed both between the wars, preserved their two identities but in the Sixties was itself taken over by Chrysler, of Dodge fame. Exit Commer and Karrier, enter Dodge.
Then Chrysler UK fell under Peugeot's spell and the name of Karrier was revived for a separate company to make Dodge vehicles. Renault later took a controlling interest in the Karrier company, whose title has been changed to Renault Truck Industries and which now builds Dodge and Renault vehicles side by side.
I am waiting for Commer to come out of its coma and complete the Mad Hatter's cycle.
