GREATER Manchester Transport ended the last financial year with a total deficit of E2.2 m, according to its annual report. Direct operating activities took £82,042,000 in traffic revenue and 076,000 in other revenue including advertising. Operating expenses came to £134,540,000.
GMT received £71,175,000 in grant payments for its direct operations including operating and capital grants. The total operating cost per bus mile was 184.1p, Private hire and contract operations made a surplus of £39,604 after all working expenses, including depreciation of vehicles used solely for these purposes, had been charged to it.
