Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE SHORT wheelbase 16-ton Mercedes-Benz 1617 chassis has been modified to bring it more into line with the specific requirements of tipper operators. The 3.9rn (12ft 10in) wheelbase chassts is now fitted as standard with the G3/50 Mercedes gearbox — a straightforward five-speed synchromesh design which replaces the eight-speed range-change unit, although the latter is retained for the haulage chassis.

Another drive-line change which this time applies to all the 1617 chassis is the increase in clutch diameter from 315 to 330mm (12.4 to 13in).

All the 16-ton Mercedes models now feature a full air braking system which replaces the earlier air/hydraulic layout. Cam-operated foundation brakes are used, actuated by Westinghouse diaphragm brake chambers.

A new chassis frame is employed for the 1617K (K denotes the tipper version) using a higher tensile steel.

The kerb weight of the 1617K is 4.85 tonnes (4 tons 15 cwt).
