Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A demountable tail-lift that can be fitted to, or removed from, a vehicle using the lift's own power pack has been developed for the Post Office by John Ratcliff (Tail Lifts) Ltd, Welwyn Garden City, Herts. The lifts are to be used as part of a new Post Office technique for handling parcels in half-ton wheeled containers — a system called the mechanized parcel post plan. The initial order is for 26 demountable tail-lifts.

The tail-lift can be mounted on any vehicle of the same width that has been fitted with the appropriate brackets

To remove a tail-lift from a van, wheeled

trolleys are placed under the tail-lift columns,

these trolleys have telescopic extensions which engage in the bottom of the columns, and cables are clipped to the lifting section of the tail-lift. The body clamps are then released. When the lift is raised, the weight of the tail-lift is transferred from the lorry to the trolleys, and the lift disengages from the body. After disconnecting the electrical coupling, the lift can be wheeled away on the trolleys for fitment to another vehicle, storage or servicing. The whole operation, it is claimed, takes about only two minutes.

• Bodybuilders H. Tidd and Sons Ltd, has moved to larger premises. The new address is Marston Road, Cromwell Road Industrial Estate, St Neots, Hunts. (Tel: 0480 74741).
