I The Provost of Aberchirder in lanffshire, Mr William Bremner, had his icence for six vehicles and four trailers educed by one vehicle and one trailer by he deputy Scottish LA in Aberdeen this veek.
A vehicle examiner, Mr A. Gray, said he lad examined the fleet in June and had laced an immediate GV9 on one vehicle Ind a delayed GV9 on a trailer. He found hat the brake was not working at all on the 'elide and the trailer had defects which, in us Opinion, even the driver should have )icked out.
Mr Bremner operated his business from wo depots and Mr Gray said he found records of maintenance and inspections were very limited. For Mr Bremner it was said that before June, maintenance and inspection had been carried out by the foreman, who was not a qualified mechanic, and an apprentice and two mechanics who worked at weekends. Now, however, there was a permanent, qualified mechanic with the part-time mechanics assisting at weekends.
The deputy LA, Mr H. R. Aylmer, said it appeared to him that up until June there had been a bad record of maintenance and little attempt at keeping proper records. The curtailment of the licence is for the month of September.
