• A one-day seminar on the Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road is being organized by the Freight Transport Association to take place at the Midland Hotel, Manchester, on November 7.
The seminar will provide the opportunity for experts inside and outside the FTA to pool their experience of this type of transport both from an own-account and user viewpoint. A Home Office representative will outline legislation both existing and proposed, while a Chemical Industries Association speaker will explain the new Transport Emergency Card System. The technical and operational aspects will be covered by speakers from major chemical companies, and a member of the Road Haulage Association will outline the services available for those who wish to hire in transport. A representative of the fire service will outline their requirements and safety precautions, and experts from the FTA will cover inspection and maintenance, and driver training.
Fee for the seminar is £12 to members of the FTA and £17 to non-members. Further details may be obtained from the Association's training advisor at Sunley House, Bedford Park, Croydon, CR9 1XU.
