Northern General Transport Ltd. has limited its service through there because, it says, the road at Shibdon Bank, Blaydon, becomes too slippery when it rains.
It says: "We have posted notices saying that the bus services at Shibdon Bank will not operate when the road is wet. There is nothing we can do to solve the problem. The road surface is to blame. We are carrying people and we have got to be careful."
A spokesman for Blaydon Urban Council says: "Recent hot weather has caused the tar on the road to melt forming a smooth surface. We are to look into the matter very soon."
