Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ARANGE of underfloor-engined single-deck passenger vehicles has been introduced by Guy Motors, Ltd.. Wolverhampton. A chassis will he exhibited on the maker's stand at the Commercial Motor Show. A second model, with a Park Royal bus body, will also be shown at Earls Court,

The underfloor-engined chassis supplement the' present range of Arab single-deckers and double-deckers. A relatively narrow horizontal power unit is arranged between the axles within the width of the chassis frame.

The first production models are equipped with a specially designed sixcyl:ndered oil engine, hydraulic transmission coupling and a four-speed preselective gearbox. Subsequently, a five-cylindered power unit will be available and a friction-type clutch and constant-mesh gearbox will be offered as alternatives.

To accommodate the engine, both the frame side members are upswept beside

it. The crankshaft is offset from. the frame centre line and the transmission

employs an offset overslung worm drive, thus maintaining a straight line between the gearbox and wormshaft. Air-pressure braking equipment will be fitted to the Show models, but vacuum-servo braking is available if required, • The radiator is arranged at the front of the chassis, the fan being operated by a jackshaft from the front of the engine, with a belt and pulley to the fan spindle.

Home models have a 16-ft. 4-in. wheelbase. This dimension will accommodate a 40-seater bus body or a 40seater coach body. The overseas version has a 17-ft. 6-in, wheelbase and is for bodies up to 35 ft. overall length. All the chassis are available with rightor left-hand drive and are 7 ft. 6 ins. or 8 ft. wide.

A fully illustrated description will he published in the next issue of "The Commercial Motor."
