Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A correspondent of this journal would be glad of information with regard to firms who would undertake the production of large numbers of small pressed-steel components. Letters should be addressed " Pressing," care of THE EDITOR.

Eatonia Bearing Metal.

Several wagon and tractor builders are now making extensive use of phosphor-bronze bearings cast by the " Eatonia " process; this process insures the ,production of perfectly-homogeneous castings which are remarkable for their power of resistance to wear. The Yorkshire Engineering Supplies, Ltd., of Ingham Street, Hunslet Road, Leeds, is one of the companies which is now sucvessfully working the system in its foundries, and northcountry manufacturers should note its address.

An Exposition of Bruhn's Taxameter.

The officials of Bruhn's Taxameter, Ltd., are as proud of their claim that their fare-registering instrument is the original machine of its kind (it first appeared in 1S90), they are of the fact that it is now, in much-improved form, in use in many parts of the world which are remote from London. With such a large number of instruments in the hands of all kinds of users, it is only to be expected that correspondence with regard to the functions and adjustments of the mechanism is considerable. Brulm's officials seem, in spite of their invariable patience and courtesy, at last to have waxed tired of answering a. continuous stream of questions, most of which concerned the elementary principles of time-and-distance. fare-registration. They have therefore produced a comprehensive pamphlet, which is designed to explain, by means of simple text and of clear diagrams, most of the imaginary puzzles with which the would-be user of it taximeter. as a rule, worries himself. This sheet expounds the reason for the existence of each of the counters or totalizers. and it describes the wily in which an owner's records should be compiled from the registers thus displayed. The methods of operation of the Briihn instrument are clearly explained, by means of a simple diagram, and very-full instructions

are included with regard to the fitting and the subsequent maintenance ot the taximeter and its component transmission gearing. The whole sheet should save Bruhn's Taxameter, Ltd., quite a lot of trouble with nonmechanically-minded users, and, indeed, it is quite a useful leaflet for those who dunk they know something of a taximeter's somewhat-complex anatomy.

The " Celerio" Jack.

Brown Bros., Ltd., the well-known " motor material nierehants and manufacturers," as the company styles itself, is, as our readers are aware, constantly placing on the market new and interesting models of motor components and accessories. One of the latest introductions of this kind is the " Celerio " jack, which we illustrate below. It is designed to lift weights up to 1 ton with ease. The jack itself scales 8 lb., and it is made in sizes to give lifts of from tq in. to 15 in. The principal reason for the introduction of this neat little tool has been to provide an efficient competitor against the large number of models of motor jacks which are already on the market. At a retail price of Os., the buyer should be readily interested, and should get one without delay.
