During the R-Series launch, the company also unveiled its Scania Driver Support system, whIch, via a dashboard display, grades a driver in four key areas: NI clImbIng; anticipation; braking; and (if you're making manual shifts) gear changing. It looks to be a useful training tool for first-time users of the R-Series (as well as a way of providing an on-going 'refresher to best driving techniques), plus a way to check your driving at the end of a shift, Via a system of stars and an overall efficiency percentage, it provides continuous performance feedback.

The system does not incorporate a data logging function/download portal for fleet management, though, but Scania says this could be possible if there is sufficient demand. CM will look at Scania Driver Support in greater detail in a forthcoming issue.
