0 he Hawk's trusty companion, Foden the dog, has always been a bit wary of helicopters. This dates back to when he was caught in the back garden under the full beam of a police surveillance chopper, unearthing a best bit of scrag-end that had vanished mysteriously some days before. Unfortunately for the shifty mutt, this scene took place in full view of the Hawk who just happened to be passing the kitchen window.
Needless to say, Foden won't be mustering much enthusiasm for this appeal from the Helicopter Museum in Weston-super-Mare. It is on the look-out for redundant artic box trailers which it plans to convert into a workshop and stores for the museum's restoration side. The museum is a charity run by a 20-strong team of volunteers who rebuild the aircraft for static display. The collection includes more than 80 helicopters and autogyros.
Restoration manager Steve Whittaker explains that with winter coming the museum is anticipating a major storage problem for rare artefacts and spares. Ideally what it they would like is a couple of 40ft box trailers that have reached the end of their working life.
