Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

As a regular reader of CM and a driver, I found last week's report on how lowly the HGV driver has become somewhat disturbing.

I totally agree with Robin Meczes' Comment about people behind the report "needing to come down from their ivory towers" when reporting such issues. Obviously they know nothing about trying to handle 38-tonners on a foggy, freezing, winter's morning when half the world is still in bed.

Neither would they know the effect of gales on a boxvan or curtainsider. Still, I suppose they might have seen it on TV. And then there's drivers' hours, axle weights, tight schedules and hazardous goods, to name but a few.

I wonder if the big-name hauliers with their costly rigs think they have "sixth-class citizens" driving for them? Somehow, I think not.
