Absent company loses licence

• The licence held by Bedwas-based Welsh Connections was revoked and its Iwo directors, SA Thorne and SE Evans, were disqualified from holding an 0-licence for three years when the company failed to appear at a Cardiff disciplinary inquiry.
The company had been called before South Wales Deputy Traffic Commissioner Alan Jenkins because of concern over its maintenance record.
Vehicle examiner Ian Ward said that when he visited the company it was unable to produce any inspection records. There was no forward planning system for preventive maintenance inspections and there appeared to be no system whatsoever. He had interviewed a Carl Watson, who appeared to be unbriefed and who did not know much about the company.
