• Ford has enhanced the standard specification of its light van range. All Fiestas and Escorts now have power-assisted steering, while the Fiesta van and Courier get tinted glass. The Courier also gains a mesh upper bulkhead. The Escort has a revised grille and a couple of new colours, and the Fiesta-based models have new seat trim material.

Cart refused
• A bid for a new international licence for one vehicle and two trailers by Will Cart (UK) of Islington, has been refused at an Eastbourne public inquiry.
Time zones
• Complaints from local residents have resulted in several conditions relating to vehicle movement times and when maintenance can be carried out being imposed on the licence held by Macclesfield-based Alan Kendrick. North Western DTC Jack Levin also said vehicles could be parked only in the lower part of his yard.

• Bala, North Wales-based A&R Jones was given a final warning about its future maintenance standards when it appeared at a Llandudno disciplinary inquiry. North Western TC Keith Waterworth directed that a further performance review be carried out in nine months' time.
Financial penalty
• Western IC Christopher Heaps has revoked the licence held by Bath-based Paul Rodgers and Joe Smith, trading as Abracadabra Waste Disposal, on financial grounds.

A bid for a new one-vehicle licence by Weston-super-Marebased Sanders Retail was turned down at a Bridgwater public inquiry following objections from neighbours.
