• Cavewood Transport is back in profit for the first six months of this year after making a loss of £80,000 on a £20m turnover last year. Parent company Calberson was also hit last year, making a loss of £1m on a turnover of £800m.
Chairman Geoffrey Cavewood says investment in computer systems contributed to the loss but this is now beginning to show benefits. The company will open a 450m2• depot in Bristol next month for consolidation of its south-western traffic.
