HEARD the latest one about the Wood Report? This one is true.
The copies circulated in July were prized rarities. They were proof copies produced on word processors and were not available to interested members of the public. Not even to the 1,500 operators who gave evidence in the inquiry.
That has been rectified, but not without an embarrassing hiccough which Greater London Council transport committee chair Dave Wetzel was brave enough to admit at last week's committee meeting (see p3).
They came from a printer's in Derby by, you've guessed it, a "juggernaut". It got all the way to County Hall, only to encounter a queue of other lorries waiting to unload. The driver was not prepared to wait, returned to Derby and the reports were only delivered at a second attempt.
They are available from the GLC's public relations department for £8 each.
