LAST WEDNESDAY was a big day for both. public transport and the pensioners.
It was the International Transport Workers Federation's Urban Transport Day, when trades unions were organising leaflet campaigns to encourage commuters to support public transport.
And in London, a pensioners' day was celebrated by the Greater London Council, which warned that pensioners' travel concessions are threatened by the Government's proposals to remove London Transport from its control.
