Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A MAJOR marketing initiative to sell the Scottish Bus Group's internal coach services as one product is launched today (Saturday) when a blue and yellow livery is unveiled.

Scottish Citylink is the brand name chosen to market the services run by Group companies within Scotland and to English destinations other than London. The intention is to operate one easily identifiable group of routes as successfully as National Express has done in re cent years, the need for this having been underlined by the success of independent competitors, notably Stagecoach of Perth.

It has been further focused by the recent launch by British Rail of a £5 go-anywhere ticket for its Scottish services, as it anticipates losing a substantial amount of business to coach operators.

• Suggestions that Lothian Region might sell its coach fleet have been played down by the Conservative-controlled council.

One councillor suggested that Lothian had no business running coach trips to Amsterdam, but transport committee chairman Ian Cramond said there are no council plans to sell the coaches. But he did say it would consider any bid of "several million pounds" for the coaches.
