r-k A BUCKIE haulier who purchased
back from British Road Services a number of vehicles that were formerly his own, complained to the Scottish Deputy Licensing Authority last week that B.R.S. were continuing to operate a lorry in the area.
Mr, W. Taylor, of Messrs. Taylor's Transport, said that he had bought 12 vehicles and a depot and equipment at Buckie, but only It of the lorries were covered by a special A licence. He sought au ordinary A licence for the other one.
B.R.S. retained a small parcels office
in the town but, said the applicant, they had stationed a lorry permanently there and the driver was going to customers asking for traffic.
The Authority said that B.R.S. were entitled to do that. He refused the application on ground of lack of evidence that the vehicles were fully employed. A short-term licence would be granted if circumstances showed it to be necessary.
