AN expansion programme for Vauxhall Motors, Ltd., that will involve spending £36m. over the next five years, was announced last week by Mr. Harlow H. Curtice, president of General Motors Corporation. He said that the programme called for "the construction of the most modern press shop and related facilities in the industry, as well as the provision at Vauxhall of the latest developments in efficient machine tools and equipment."
The company are at present exporting 57 per cent, of their annual output of 130,000 vehicles and the completion of the programme would enable them, Mr. Curtice claimed, to double their overseas shipments through General Motors' export organization.
