LONDON TRANSPORT claims that the intrusion of private vehicles into Central London bus lanes has been cut down by resurfacing them with red tarmac.
A number of bus lanes have received the red coating treatment including one in Park Lane which makes them easily distinguishable from the rest of the road surface.
Infringement by vehicles at peak hours into one particular bus lane has dropped from 16 per cent to 6.5 per cent.
