A QUICK and simple method c identifying when trailer brak,
linings need replacing is beim
commercially launched by th German brake lining maker Be
ral-Bremsbelag KG throug Truckparts Ltd of Willenhal West Midlands.
It is a visual check syster which demonstrates when a hr ing needs replacement. groove, which is milled alon the longitudinal edge of each hr ing, is worn down by each appl cation of the trailer brakes.
Eventually, this groove disar pears which indicates that linin
replacement is necessary a minimum thickness has bee reached.
To help the operator furthe Beral has introduced a numbt coding system which is presse into the edge of each trailer Ili ing. This removes the need 1 unrivet linings to establish the type and quality.
For the time being, these inni vations only apply to brakes wit diameters of 300, 400 an 420mm (11.8, 15.7 and 16.5ii for original equipmer suppplied by axle makers Be gische Achsenfabrik (BPW Kassbohrer(K) Sauer(SAF), an for spare parts.
