Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE DIRECT AberdeenLondon bus service, introduced in May to run until the end of September, is to be extended to run during Christmas and the New Year and from Easter until the end of October. Permission to extend the period was granted last week by the Scottish Traffic Commissioners. meeting in Aberdeen, to W. Alexander and Sons (Northern) Ltd.

Mr Malcolm Stewart for Alexanders, told the Commissioners that the success of the direct service had exceeded their expectations considerably. By extending the operating period they could cover all the school holidays, the main holiday periods and Christmas.

British Rail was the only objector to the application.

Permission was also granted to Alexanders for four additional pick-up points on its service from Aberdeen to Dyce airport. Mr Stewart told the Commissioners that despite the increased traffic through the airport there had not been a great increase in the number of passengers it was carrying. The company was loosing more than 13p per mile on the service.
