.ancer Boss Ltd. now fits a 'aversing cab to its latest lodels in the fork-lift sideloader ange. The cabs provide corndate operator visibility at all tages of the container handling iperation, notably when the nachine is used to lift conainers on and off railway vagons at inland rail terminals.
Of all-steel construction the ;abs are roller mounted and deiigned. to traverse the full width )f the sideloaders. On the 2500 3eries model, designed to lift aOft containers, the cab is )laced forward of the load platform, the container being loca :ed immediately behind the cab and within the length of the machine.
On the 3500 Series machines, designed to handle 30ft and 40ft ISO containers, the cab is underslung and the container is carried on a raised platform above cab height.
The new generation machines have been extensively pre-production tested, and the all-round visibility now provided ensures that risk of container damage is reduced. The cab also enables the machine to be driven close to container stacks, with the result that aisle widths can be reduced and storage space increased. The first of the new 2500 Series was shipped to America where it was exhibited at the Second International Container Exposition at Baltimore last month. Equipped with a Cummins turbo-charged diesel engine, rated at 220 .bhp and designed for cold weather operation, the machine is, it is claimed, the first British sideloader to penetrate the American market.
