• W. and C. French Ltd. has purchased eight Crane Fruehauf semi-trailers, type C8-F2-20 Special. The units are constructed to give 38f1 outer axle spread when used with Scammell Handyman tractive units and are plated for operation at 32 tons g.t.w.
These dual-purpose vehicles are fitted with a removable "A" frame which is used in the transport of pre-fabricated housing panels.
With the "A" frame removed, the semitrailer reverts to a normal step-frame for the transportation of general cargo and equipment. The main deck is 25ft 1 I in. long with a Ain. hardwood floor, and the semi-trailers have capacities of 20 tons.
