Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A woman who continued to run her husband's haulage business after he became bankrupt appeared at her own examination in bankruptcy on October 24.

Mrs. Audrey Nancy Borthwick, 37, of Holly Terrace, Blencogo, Cumberland, admitted that she had been Unwise to attempt to keep the business going. She said that debts outstanding when her husband became bankrupt had been doubled.

Mrs. Borthwick admitted gross liabilities of £2.900 and assets of £1,254.

The examination was closed.

She said: "Mechanical failure of lorries and the fact that a finance company had repossessed two lorries, made business difficult. Business mis-management also resulted in a dropping off in trade."

Mrs. Borthwick agreed with the Official Receiver, Mr. James Tye, that she had made matters worse, and caused unnecessary expense by forcing creditors to take Out another writ against her, after her husband's bankruptcy "only six months before".
