• The Transport Minister is -due shortly to announce the membership of the National Freight Corporation, which is being set up under the Transport Act.
The Corporation will be charged with integrating State-run road and rail goods services and is to start work on January 1 1969.
Trade union representatives now being sounded out about serving on the Corporation include Mr. Sydney Green, general secretary of the National Union of Railwaymen, although no formal invitations have yet been extended.
One of the full-time posts (salary £7,500 to £9,000) which is likely to go to a union man will carry special responsibility for labour relations.
