L'ASTER delivery of powders is possible with the new Wellworthy-Ricardo Compressor WS9 Mark II. This is a larger version of the Wellworthy-Ricardo WS5 multi-cylinder positive-displacement compressor and gives an air flow in the order of 500 cu. ft. per minute at a shaft speed of 2,000 r.p.m,, with a maximum pressure of 15 p.s.i. Overall dimensions of the new unit are 2 ft. 8-5 in. long, 1 ft. 8 in. high, the main body width being about 1 ft. 2 in. with an extra 3.5 in. overhang for the delivery manifolds. Net weight is under 2 cwt.
Delivery manifolds can be supplied to connect both ends of the compressor to form a common air discharge point and a feature of the WS9 is that it can be operated under conditions where two separate delivery feeds can be taken, one at either end of the compressor. A pressure difference between the two ends of up to 10 p.s.i. is allowable for periods of up to 10 to 15 minutes. This is of value where separate supplies may cause a pressure difference at the beginning of an unloading cycle but balances out when the discharge gets underway. Direction of rotation can be determined on assembly to meet particular requirements and the air intake ports can be fed through a remotely mounted air filter: Makers: Wellivorthy Ltd., Lymington, Hants.
Better Tyre from Goodyear. ...
CONSIDERABLE improvements in performance and mileage over other tyres of the same class are claimed for the Super Hi-Miler just announced by The Goodyear Tyre and Rubber Co. (Great Britain) Ltd.
The new tyre is generally of conventional construction using textile casing cords—either nylon or rayon are obtainable—but there are a number of interesting features of the design. The compound used for the tyre is Goodyear's Tufsyn (a polybutadiene rubber) and a dualcompound tread is employed. The outer tread is compounded to give maximum toughness and abrasion resistance whilst the under tread in the shoulder area is more resilient to reduce heat build up.
A new tread design is used; there are six circumferential grooves, the inner four being relatively narrow, whilst the outer ones are extra deep as well as being wider.
The Super Hi-Miler is an addition to the range of Goodyear tyres and is made in the same sizes as the Traction Hi-Miler and at the same prices.

A FULL range of Goodyear Super Single tyres to replace ri twin tyres ranging in size from 7.50 20 to 10.00 -20 (12 ply) is now available to order, and examples will be featured by the Goodyear Tyre and Rubber Co. (Great Britain) Ltd. at the Scottish Motor Show this month. The Super Single has a new rim profile and comes in the following sizes: 15 19.5 (14 ply); 15 22.5 (14 ply); 16-5 19-5 (16 ply); 16.5 22-5 (16 ply and 18 ply); 1819.5 (16 ply); 18 -225 (16 ply) and 19.5 19-5 (18 ply). The tyres are at present being imported from the U.S.A., making the delivery time three months.
Conversion to Amber EASY conversion of headlights and auxiliary lamps with clear lenses and bulbs to give an amber light for driving on the Continent or in mist and fog is given with Amberdiscs. These arc made of a tough plastics film, tinted amber and they are self-adhesive so that they can be fitted to the outside of the lamp glasses quickly.
Although the adhesive gives a strong joint which will withstand weather conditions it can be removed easily and cleanly without detrimental effects to the glass. Two sizes are supplied, 7 in. diameter and 5-5 in. diameter.

Mud Flaps ARANGE of mud flaps for both cars and commercial vehicles has been introduced by Borough Tyre Co. Ltd. The flaps can be plain or monogrammed to particular requirements.

Common Market Provisions AREPORT of a conference held in March this year (fully reported in The Commercial Motor, March 8) on " Legal Provisions Relating to Transport in the Common Market" is now available in booklet form.
This 82-page report contains papers by the Conference speakers. Subjects include an outline of European transport systems, transport charges and tariffs in the E.E.C., investment, harmonization, coal and steel transport, licensing and harmonization of taxation and social conditions.
The principal points made during the discussions have been incorporated in the footnotes and there is also an appendix.
