NEW VEHICLES FOR MIDDLESBROUGH: Middlesbrough Corporation has placed a repeat order for 10 Daimler Fleetline chassis at a cost of £3,081 12s. each, and 10 Northern Counties bodies (£3,564 each).
A.E.C. UNITS FOR MOBILE CRANES: Steels Engineering Ltd. of Sunderland, has placed orders with the special products division of A.E.C. Ltd., for 40 241,1.690 diesel engines and gearboxes, and a number of axle units The sets include 30 engines complete with five-speed constant-mesh gearbox and unit-mounted auxiliary gearbox designed for installation in twin-driving axle six-wheeler mobile crane chassis. Four of the remaining sets are similar units designed for left-hand-drive operation, and the remainder will have special auxiliary gearboxes for six-wheel-drive chassis driving on all three axles. MANDATOR TRACTIVE UNITS FOR sourH AFRICA: A.E.C. Vehicles (S.A.) Ltd. has ordcred 24 Mandator chassis units to be supplied for assembly in its Johannesburg plant. They will be operated in conjunction with semi-trailers built by A.E.C. Vehicles (S.A.) Ltd.
£200,000 ORDER FOR BRITISH DIESELS: Finland's largest bus and lorry manufacturers, Oy Suomen Autoteoliisuus A.B., has ordered 260 automotive diesel engines and 200 gearboxes from the Special Products Division of the Leyland Motor Corporation. Of the diesel engines, 200 will be 140 h.p 0.600 units. 50 will be 200 h.p. 0.680 models and the remaining 10 will be 125 h.p. 0.400 models. The order for gearboxes specifies the Albion G.B. 241 model, a five-speed gearbox incorporating a sixth-speed overdrive ratio.
