Yorks Hauliers : New Moves

cURTHER discussions were taking place this week regarding the rate enforcement plan adopted by the Bradford and District Hauliers Federation and reported in The Commercial Motor of October 25. Federation representatives are expecting to meet delegates from the local branch of the Institute of Shipping and Forwarding Agents in the near future. The position was due for discussion at a general meeting of the Institute branch this week when the recognition of the Federation and its rates schedule was up for consideration.

With this would go the question of whether or not the members should be committed to use only Federation haulage for the Hull and Liverpool export traffic. As the local forwarding agents claim to handle 90 per cent, of the business of this nature in the area, the members contend that there should be joint consultation on matters of mutual interest. Their representatives are anxious for assurances that there will be firm adherence to a stabilized rates schedule so that no fear of invidious situations shall arise in the slack part of the year.
