MR. L. P. WALSH has been appointed manager of the London depot of Amey's Transport (Oxford), Ltd. He was previously a director of Jess B. Woodcock and Son, Ltd.
Ma. R. T. Knlow[ cs has been appointed Nottingham area manager in the central sales region of A.C.V. Sales, Ltd. He has been with the company for 10 years, serving the sales organization in Carlisle, Sheffield and Newcastle.
MR. D. L. JONES has joined the Aluminium Development Association as road transport engineer. One-time senior designer of the Regent Oil Co.. Ltd., he was recently with the Ford Motor Co., Ltd., responsible for the development of tankers.
MR. J. WARNOCK has been appointed manager of administrative services of the Goodyear Tyre and Rubber Co. (Greft'Britain), Ltd. He was previously manager of the tyre department. MR. A. Timms." previously sales development manager, has become sales manager of the tyre-replacement department.
MR. B. C. L. BARTON, head of the transport and dispatch department of John Player and Sons, Ltd., was onTuesday made a presentation by the committee of the East Midland Division of the Traders' Road Transport Association to mark his three years of office as chairman, and other services to the organization.
DEATH OF MR. WINTER GRAY
WE regret to announce the death of Mr. A. Winter Gray, secretary of the Institute of Transport from 1923-4. He died last week at the age of 82.
In 1917 he became an assistant to Mr. H. E. (later Sir Herbert) Blain, operating manager of Underground Electric Railways, and the two were associated in the inauguration of the London "Safety First" Council and the British industrial "Safety First" Association.
MR. BRUCE PATTERSON has been appointed public relations officer of the National Benzoic Co., Ltd.
MR. A. LINO, chief engineer of Leicester Transport Department, is to retire. He joined the undertaking in 1925.
MR. HARRY WALKER, Worksop depot superintendent of East Midland Motor Services, Ltd., has retired after 36 years' service.
MR. A. H. PASSEY, rolling stock engineer in the department of the chief engineer of British Road Services, has succeeded MR. B. E. MURCIEISON as supplies officer.

MR. RICHARD R. WATKINS, service sales manager of Girling, Ltd., and previously sales, manager of the engineering division of Romae Industries, Ltd., has been appointed general sales manager of Skyhi, Ltd., and Skyhi Heavy Duty Loaders, Ltd.
MR. P. PACK HAM, director of home sales for A.C.V. Sales, Ltd., is progressing favourably after an abdominal operation. He expects to be back at work within four or five weeks, and until then MR. E. H. RANDLE., his deputy, will continue in his place.
MR. J. T. G. MILNE, manager of the special products division of K.L.G. Sparking Plugs, Ltd.. has become director and general manager. MR. R. G. CAVE, divisional export director of Smith's Motor Accessories, Ltd., has Joined the K.L.G. board, as has MR. R. G. BAILEY, who has become director and works manager.
MR. R. C. CROSS has been elected chairman of the council of the automobile division of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. The vicechairmen are MR. W. M. HEYNES and MR. R. A. WiLgoN-JONES. Ordinary members of the council are now MR.
