DEATH OF MR. WINTER GRAY

WE regret to announce the death of Mr. A. Winter Gray, secretary of the Institute of Transport from 1923-4. He died last week at the age of 82.

In 1917 he became an assistant to Mr. H. E. (later Sir Herbert) Blain, operating manager of Underground Electric Railways, and the two were associated in the inauguration of the London "Safety First" Council and the British industrial "Safety First" Association.

MR. BRUCE PATTERSON has been appointed public relations officer of the National Benzoic Co., Ltd.

MR. A. LINO, chief engineer of Leicester Transport Department, is to retire. He joined the undertaking in 1925.

MR. HARRY WALKER, Worksop depot superintendent of East Midland Motor Services, Ltd., has retired after 36 years' service.

MR. A. H. PASSEY, rolling stock engineer in the department of the chief engineer of British Road Services, has succeeded MR. B. E. MURCIEISON as supplies officer.
