II South Northamptonshire Council is to take delivery of the UK's first pair of Soria 8x4 rear-steer refuse collection vehicles. The council chose the P94GB8x4•4NB 300s for
their extra manoeuvrability in the largely rural area of south Northamptonshire, which includes over a hundred small villages.
The council has specified a total of eight Scania Lowline-cabbed RCVs, the other six being P94DB6x2*4N9 260s. All vehicles come equipped with Allison World Series automatic gearboxes, Heil Powerlink 2 compaction bodies, Terberg binlifters, Eminox vertical CRT exhausts and Red Forge onboard weighing. The order will see the authority's entire standard-width chassis ACV fleet replaced on a seven-year contract hire agreement with SFS Limited.
