A.E.C. TRACTIVE UNITS FOR B.R.S.: British Road Services has ordered 240 tractive units from A.E.C. Ltd., comprising 100 Mandators and 140 Mercury medium-weight units.

KUDU REPEAT: Within a week of receiving orders for 50 Kudu chassis, A.E.C. Ltd. has received repeat orders for a further 50 examples of this special passenger chassis designed for the South African market.

ANNUAL RENEWAL: Holm Sand and Gravel Co. Ltd., Bristol, has just taken delivery of seven Dodge 8-ton tippers from the Steels Group to complete the 1964 renewal of the company's 20-vehicle fleet. This is the eighth year in which Holms has made annual renewal of its tipper fleet, the tippers running about 30,000 miles in 12 months.

SUGAR CARRIERS FOR JAMAICA: A.E.C. Ltd. has received a repeat order from Reryson Agencies Ltd. for eight Mammoth Major six-wheelers to be fitted with highcapacity Yipping bodies for sugar haulage in Jamaica. The chassis will be supplied c.k.d, for local assembly.

MORE ALBIONS FOR HYDROCONS: Lambert Engineering (Glasgow) Ltd., who placed a £300,000 contract with Albion Motors only last month for 150 chassis, has placed a further order, worth £250,000, for 120 lorry chassis to form the basis of more Hydrocon mobile cranes. Of the 120 chassis, 100 will be Chieftain Super Six models to carry the 6-ton Hydrocon Highlander crane, and the remainder will be Albion Super Reiver 6 x 6 models to carry the 10-ton Hamilton crane. These latter chassis will be fitted with the new Albion crawler gearbox providing 10 forward speeds and special low first and reverse gears.

Transport Prize: An annual prize of 12 gns., to he known as the Herbert Crow Prize, is being offered by the Worshipful Company of Carmen to the candidate obtaining the highest marks in five subjects of the Royal Society of Arts examination in road transport, including goods transport subjects, and qualifying for a diploma. The prize will come from the income of the Herbert Crow Memorial Fund.

Scammell Arrangements in Manchester: As from today (Friday) sales and service of Scammell Scarab units and trailers in Manchester will be in the hands of G.S.V. (Vehicles) Ltd. which has been appointed sole Scammell distributors for this range. The company will operate from the former Scammell premises in Stretford, the address being Bridgewater Street, Stretford, near Manchester, Lancs. Tel.: Longford 3305. Kerry's Exhibition: The Sheffield branch of Kerry's (Great Britain) Ltd. will hold an exhibition of garage equipment in the company's showrooms at Kerry House, St. Mary's Gate, Sheffield, on May 5, 6 and 7. Manufacturers' representatives will be in attendance to answer technical questions and arrange demonstrations.

Move: The new headquarters of the Institute of the Motor Industry, at Fanshaws, Brickendon, Hertford, was opened last week.

Cavalcade at Bristol: In addition to the itinerary published on April 17, the Vauxhall-Bedford Cavalcade will be at Bristol from May 19-21. This big vehicle display will be at the new Avon Street premises of Welch and Co. Ltd., where this company has just established a parts warehouse and repair shops with a covered area of 46,000 sq. ft.
