rtA NEW course and examination in vehicle bodywork has been prepared by the City and Guilds of London Institute, and details will be published shortly. It is intended to provide an additional qualification for apprentices who have obtained a certificate in one of the four basic craft examinations and who wish to prepare for more responsible work in body manufacturing and repair. The first examination for this course will be held in 1966. Meanwhile, this year the first examinations will be held for the vehicle bodybuilding courses introduced in 1961.
Another new City and Guilds scheme has been initiated for bodybuilding, this one carrying the Vehicle Body Engineering Technician's Certificate. Intended mainly for design and drawing office staff, it offers alternative examination papers covering large-scale production and p.s.v. production. The first examinations for this certificate will be held in 1966, and details of the scheme (Subject c30 318) can be obtained from the institute at 76 Portland Place, London, W.1.
The institute has also prepared a course to cover the needs of assistants to qualified engineers in traffic engineering departments.
