Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ANEW single-axle semi-trailer with fifth-wheel coupling has been introduced by Scammell Lorries Ltd. Called the FW1314, it is designed for a load capacity of up to 14 tons and has 15-in. by 3.5-in, pressed-steel main frame members. Outriggers and side raves are also pressed steel and there are five crossmembers, two tubular and three pressed steel. All-welded construction is used.

The FW1314 is available either 8 ft. or 7 ft, 6 in. wide with singleline vacuum or two-line air pressure brakes. A 5 in. diameter tubular axle is used, standard brake units being 15.5 in. by 6 in., wedge operated, but with airpressure braking 15-5-in. by 7-in.

c 12 cam-operated brakes are an option. Standard tyres are 9.00-20 (14 ply) with 10.00-20 (14 ply) as an alternative: another option is two-speed landing gear in place of the standard single speed.

Various types of body can be supplied and with an 8-ft.-wide platform and vacuum brakes and the standard equipment an unladen weight of 2 tons 12 cwt. is claimed.
