THE CHARTERED FLEET—The
vehicles offered now total 2,933, of which about 1,800 appear on first check to be " possibles." The lists are by no means closed, and as will be seen from the above figures, there is still room for more offers of the right kind of vehicle from the provinces.
DEFENCE LINES .—The estimated total of vehicles is now just over 33,000, which shows a satisfactory improvement. It will, of course, be realized that whilst this is a large number of vehicles it is not a large proportion of all the vehicles in the country. In addition much depends on the distribution, which is by no means even. There is room for improvement, particularly in North Midland and Southern England.

CARGOES.—The general cargo moved under the scheme in the week ended April 10 amounted to 51,000 tons, or 3,000 tons more than in the previous week.
CLAIMS—Any claim for loss of or damage to goods carried through the Road Haulage Scheme should be made by the customer on the carrier (see para. 18 of the Minister's Standard Conditions of Carriage, document RH/D/2.2). If in connection with any
claim a carrier requires a copy of his proof of delivery (receipt note) which he has sent in with his invoice, he should apply, quoting the appropriate reference number, to the M. of W.T. Area Office through which, the order came. •
COUNTY AGENTS.—Among the agents appointed for the supply and control of vehicles for the removal of scrap in the London area are the following:—
Main Transport Co., Ltd., The Ham, Brentford; H. G. Curren and Co., Ltd., 229, Hatfield Road, St. Albans; S. and A. Bowen, Park Corner, Knockholt, Kent; Dennings Transport, Ltd., Epping; Leigh Building and Supply Co., Ltd., 956, London Road, Leighon-Sea.'
