CM IS URGING all its readers to get behind its ‘Fight Freight Crime, SaveTruckPol’ campaign, run jointly with the Road Haulage Association and the Freight Transport Association.
Following a lack of funding, this important freight-crime fighting unit will close at the end of the month, unless the road transport industry can save it at the 11th hour.
With about 49,000 companies in the UK running CVs, it would take only a £10 donation from each firm to keep TruckPol run ning for three years – a small price tag to keep such a vital service to the industry.
The campaign is in the process of lobbying the government with a long-term aim to permanently re-instate TruckPol’s funding.
However, unless hauliers act now to save TruckPol, the unit will close, leaving a huge gap in the fight against haulage-related criminal activity.
