What got you started in transport? My father was a transport manager and, along with my brother, we started our own family transport company in 1973 which gave me a real taste for the truck industry. I then joined Volvo Trucks in Irvine, Scotland in 1978 working with new product development, field testing, demonstration and press test activities, latterly at the Warwick HO I now work in Gothenburg, Sweden with responsibility for press tests throughout Europe.

What do you love/hate about it? I love the diversity and daily challenges that come with the job and the support of a great team of friends and colleagues throughout the industry. I hate excessive bureaucracy that gives no real benefit.

What's your poison?

Uisge beattia. ' the water of life" Scotch single malt, preferably Laphroaig.

How do you relax?

Barbecues with friends on the west coast of Sweden. What was the last CD you bought? John Lee Hooker, Greatest Hits.

Where was your last holiday? Egypt for some winter sun followed by a great two-week motorcycle tour in Scotland with friends. However, I really don't recommend swimming in Loch Ness... it's cold!

Does your heart belong North or South?

North. I love both Scotland and Sweden for their constantly changing landscapes and 'unique' sense of humour.

Do you have any unfulfilled ambitions?

To travel the world by motorcycle with my wife, absorbing as many cultures and experiences as possible.

What makes you happiest in life? My wife, my Harley. on an open road with the sun shining.., roll on summer!
