• Germany is about to cut its drinkdriving limit to 0.6mg/100m1— equivalent to one pint of beer or two glasses of wine for most people, and roughly half the UK limit. Anyone going over the limit faces having their licence suspended and a DM500 (1170) fine.
The German authorities cannot prevent UK drivers caught over the limit from working in the UK, but they will not be allowed back into Germany for the duration of the suspension.

vices manager at the Freight Transport Association, points out that international drivers are well used to on-the-spot fines.
"It's just another one to add to the list. Having said that, international drivers are at the top of their profession and should know the rules and regulations of every country they are visiting, not just those of the UK."
He adds that the ETA supports the harmonisation of drink-drive limits across Europe, as proposed by the EU.
